Living a life with a purpose

We live in a world where it seems problems are unending. As human beings we do not always know what is best for us. Going back in history only confirms the futility of man's efforts to create a better world for himself. We live in a world where the very moral fabric of society is under threat with increased tendency towards moral decay. Few people are pausing to think of the consequences of choosing one way or the other. Where is religion's place in all this? Is there any answer to the problems all around us? What is the purpose of our existence? Where are we headed?

I believe the purpose of people is to serve God. We should be living for God and getting to rely on him. I have always wondered how people who do not know God cope with their problems. For me, a life without God is totally unimaginable. I have a personal relationship with my God. He loves and cares for me. He is in control of my life. He knows where I am heading. He knows everything and is helping me everyday to become more like Him. My God is my all. I rely on Him in everything. It is not easy to keep believing in God but it is a choice that I continue making everyday of my life. The challenges are there and they do not go away but knowing that God is in control of my life causes me to remain calm even in the face of adversity. He gives me peace. He watches over me. That is why I can not imagine life without God.

Let me give you a glimpse into my theology. Ok, it is not hard to believe in God based on creation, the universe. All the different species of animals, the plants, the birds. Who made them to be what they are? It is my God who made all those things. To me, it makes sense that my God should be the God of the bible who I believe, is the one and true God. I welcome other views and discussions just in case someone thinks otherwise and can give his reasons. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that humanity is messed up. We try, and we keep trying to be nice people, good people, just people, sincere people, truthful people etc. We do try but somehow we just do not measure up. Of course, some are better than others at it. Others are worse of. I do not know where that places you on a scale of 1 to 10. And in this, I am sure you can agree with me that we all need help. And , I believe, that the solution is provided in the bible. Jesus Christ came into this world to save us so that we would be reconciled to God. Why? Because God is perfect, he cannot fellowship with imperfection. But, God created us and he loves us and he wants us to have fellowship with him.
